The Cyclops (サイクロプス) is an Elasmotherium-Type Zoid, one of over 200 species of fictional biomechanical lifeforms depicted in TOMY's Zoids model, toy, and media franchise.
Overview[]
Unlike its nemesis the Diablo Tiger, the Cyclops is described as being from "far in the past" and has a more melee battle style. The Cyclops often seeks out its rival in search of victory over it. The Zoid resembles a more "ancient" look and has rather powerful melee weapons such as the Long Horn Spear, which was easily capable of impaling any enemy that dared approach. Cyclops' primary ranged weapon is the large Exploding Ball Cannon mounted on its back.
Media Appearances[]
Video Games[]
This Zoid appeared in the Zoids: Legacy game. A separate version, called the Cyclops 2 was available, featuring a gray and blue color scheme and a different horn, called the Forked Defense Horn and has an upgraded form. It also appeared in Zoids VS II. The Zoid was recovered from the Republic-Empire line by the Republic forces and brought to the Republic Training Base for study and holding. It was discovered that Cyclops was a dataless Zoid from the past with a ZOS Zoid Core. The mysteries that were held in these dataless Zoids made them sought after by both Rottiger and Terra Geist. Because of this, the Zoid was left in the possession of the Blue Unicorn team after an attack on the Training base was made by both Imperial teams. Cyclops becomes a playable Zoid after the player completes both Mission Modes, as well as the Diablo Tiger.
Zoids Legacy Stats for Cyclops II:
Length: 12.0m, Weight: 85.0t, Speed: 180km/h
Models[]
Cyclops was one of two Cyber-Drive Zoids, and the counterpart of Diablo Tiger.
The Zoid includes horns for both the Cyclops and Cyclops II. The model itself is coloured in the Cyclops I scheme, however a section of the box art shows the Cyclops II color scheme, using a Cyclops I style horn.
The Cyclops could be controlled via an infrared remote control and sported two channels, so multiple Zoids could be "battled" without interference. Their other unique feature was that two points on their hind legs were rigged to trip when the armor took a solid impact. The objective of battle was to hit these points with a BB launcher.
The Cyber Drive remote enables the zoids to go forwards, backwards, "swivel" (move their front end back and forth, letting them turn slowly if timed correctly), and cycle through a firing mode.
