The Lidier is a Lion-type of Zoid, a race of biomechanical lifeforms from the fictional Zoids universe.
Overview
Developed as part of the Death Saurer battalion, the Lidier was built entirely for and around speed. Streamlined to reduce air resistance to the max and then given an aerodynamic mane (which had the added bonus of better protecting the cockpit), it saw service in all manner of operations, the most notable of which was as the Death Saurer's escort. The Lidier quickly proved itself to be the fastest ground-based Zoid of its time, though later Gradeup offerings (such as Ice Blazer and Deathcat) and then a number of newer, more advanced Zoids would top its speed.
Battle Story Appearances
The Lidier is most often seen alongside Death Saurer, though at least one Guylos-style repainted one can be seen in the background of NJR fanbooks, perhaps meant to be a Guylos Empire convert.
Media
The Lidier appeared on a Zoids poster made by Tomy advertising several spring powered Zoids. It was later included in the game Zoids Cyberdrive, where a red Lidier named Godspeed was piloted by Johnny.
Models
Zoids (1983)
The Lidier was introduced as part of the Zoids (1983) line.
The Lidier is a large windup, and is composed of five frames of parts: two black, one red, and two silver. It also includes grey caps, a clear red eye piece, silver pilot, windup motor, and stickers for markings. When complete, the Lidier will walk along with its legs moving and jaws chomping.
Zoids Graphics
The Lidier was rereleased as part of the Zoids Graphics line in October 2008. It appears identical to the original Japanese release in color and assembly, and as a bonus includes a softer teal green sprue containing the contents of Figure Set 2: Empire foot soldiers, some of their weapons, and a small wild dinosaur Zoid for one of them to ride. The Empire pilots are out of scale with the standard pilot figures (compare the sitting one to Koenig Wolf's nose).
