Wild Zoids are unmanned Zoids that roam freely across Planet Zi. Several variations of wild Zoids exist, including Zoids that had been abandoned, mutated Zoids and completely untamed Zoids which lack weaponry or cockpits.

Overview

A Wild Zoid is any Zoid that does not have a Human pilot there are three basic varieties:

True wild Zoids

A Zoid in it's orginal state. These are the Zoids that inspired designs such as the Liger Zero or the Gojulas Giga. They are the rarest variety of Wild Zoid.

Unmanned Zoids

Zoids that formerly had a pilot but were either abandoned or they escaped. In some cases a Zoid may develop a bond with a pilot and will continue to fallow his wishes even after his death.

Sleepers

Sleepers are Zoids that were equiped with a basic AI system that would order them to attack intruders that enter their territory. They are placed in strategic locations by the different militaries of Zi to prevent access to certain areas.

Anime

Wild Zoids are seen in several of the Zoids anime series. Chaotic Century and Guardian Force saw many wild Zoids, such as Guysaks working in packs. In New Century Zero, Leon Toros' Blade Liger was a wild Zoid that chose him to be its pilot. Fuzors had packs of wild Rev Raptors considered to be territorial. In Genesis, a herd of abandoned Elephanders were strong wild Zoids that relied on impure Reggel to survive.

Video Games

The Saga series pits the player against packs of wild Zoids that can be of the same type, or work in groups of several different Zoids. In Geno Breaker's Story, several wild Zoids seen were mutated.

Battle Story

During the Battle Story, many Zoids were based on wild Zoids rather than re-using older Zoids for a direct base or reference. The Liger Zero, Berserk Fury, Energy Liger, Gojulas Giga, Seismosaurus, Whale King, and Gairyuki and many other zoids were based on a wild zoid counterpart. Some Zoids' NJR boxes even depict the wild zoids they were based on
