Anime[]

The Zero Phantoth is featured in Zoids: Wild ZERO. It first appears in episode 35, where it assists the True Empire forces. The Zoid's arrival is heralded by a signature dense fog that obscures vision and jams radio communication. The Zoid proved devastatingly effective against fixed installations, such as Republican outpost bases. This is doubly effective since a restriction is imposed on the defending forces that prevents them from using their Wild Blasts.

The most effective Zoid at countering the Zero Phantoth is Jake's Sonic Bird. Its speed allows it to intercept the Zero Phantoth, while the pilot, Jake, is able to use his Wild Blast in a limited fashion without a pilot suit. Despite having aerial superiority, the thick armour on the Zero Phantoth was shown to damage the Sonic Bird's swords on impact.

The Zero Phantoth itself isn't named until episode 39, where its pilot is captured by the Republic.

Many more Zero Phantoth are seen in a vision seen by Leo Conrad, where the Zoids arrived in the past at the age of the dinosaurs.

Trivia[]

  • Etymologically, its name resembles Mecha Phantoth (メカファントス), the original name of Elepantus as Mechabonica.
