The Great Sea Battle

The Great Sea Battle is twentieth-seventh episode of the anime Zoids: Guardian Force based on TOMY's Zoids model franchise

Overview

The episode begins the Death Stinger heading into firing position, aiming at Van and Irvine. Rosso and Viola, flying in Storm Sworders, see this and quickly head over to rescue the two. In the battle, Helcats are overwhelming Van and Irvine Zoids. While the two try to fight them off, Hiltz fires the Death Stinger's charged partial cannon, obliterating the Helcats. Van and Irvine try to out run the blast, but their Zoids are not fast enough. At the last minute, Rosso and Viola quickly swoop down and grab them, escaping the blast. Back on the Ultrasaurus, Fiona and Moonbay are still waiting for their friends to arrive. Fiona does wonder if the two didn't make it, but her question is answered as Rosso and Viola drop off the Lightning Saix and Blade Liger. Overjoyed at Van being safe, she rushes over and embraces Van, and the two spend somewhat of a romantic moment together. This moment is quickly ended after Herman greets Van, and calls him and Irvine heroes. The group is brought into the deck of the Ultrasaurus, and is shown the plan to use the Gravity Cannon on the Death Stinger.

Herman explains that the Ultrasaurus will have to go to Guylos territory to get the Gravity Cannon. After this, the group is brought to the control center, as Hiltz begins his attack on the Ultrasaurus. While Van asks to use a Hammer Head to attack the Death Stinger, he is denied, as a new plan is made in which to use dept charge to release frozen carbon to stop the Death Stinger. The plan works, and the Death Stinger is pushed away, although not destroyed. The episode ends with the Ultrasaurus sailing to Guylos land, with a sun set in the background.

• The moment shared between Van and Fiona can be considered one of the strongest hints of romance in the Guardian Force timeline.

  

  Van and Fiona reunited on the Ultrasaurers

• Instead of cutting out a section of the episode that references to/shows alcohol (as is usually done), the dialogue in one scene was simply changed to avoid mentioning. Herman and Schubaltz end up making a deal after the decision is made to enter the Methane Hydrate ice fields: in the Japanese version, Schubaltz offers to treat Herman to a glass of alcohol if they make it out safely. In the English dub, Schubaltz simply says that he'll owe Herman.
