People of the Sky

People of the Sky an episode from the anime series Zoids: Genesis based on TOMY's Zoids model franchise.

Overview

Zairin begins by tracking Ruuji's last know location. He was to report back to Digu, but stopped short. There was an imperial meeting going on back in the capital. A brief glimpse of Jiin and his Bio Tryanno are seen as the meeting is set up.

Jiin's father, the emperor of Digald, ascended to the top of their deceased generator. It was there they were seen to be kneeling before several other people. These people traded Reggel for plans of a new wireless communicator.

Despite the plans, Digald had almost superseded the need for upgrades to their technology. Yet it was revealed Digald had received their technology from the people of the sky.

Back with Ruuji and Ron, they had arrived back near the sea. Here they were stopped by Katou city's checkpoint. Unlike many other places, this checkpoint was to keep Digald out, rather than invite them in.

Katou was a highly fortified city. It had many watchtowers, drawbridges and fortifications which made it very difficult to attack. The Zoid mechanic Jingo was also from this city.

The group met with the mayor, who seemed acquainted with Ron. He discussed the saying they had learnt in the festive of the heaven (the ancestors will send an arc to take people to heaven). He recited a different saying. The God's Fury had sent people to the sky. The ark had gone back and fourth between land and sky, but eventually ran out of power, and fell into the sea. The mayor offered to present them with "proof" that the myth was true.

Ron, Mii and Ruuji went swimming to find the proof. They arrived in an underwater cave, which had an enormous Zoid embedded in the roof. This was was the Gildragon. Despite being as large as a mountain, in the past was able to fly.

The Gildragon was immobile, fossilised with no access to the cockpit or reggel port. Despite this, Ron indicated the Gildragon may not be one of a kind.

Ruuji made a valuable assertion. He asked what happened to the people in the Sky. To which the answer was simply "don't know".

In the middle of the night, Ron took Ruuji to meet with a group of people (one of which was the mayor). Here, he was asked what would he do after the fight with Digald (and repaired the generator). He replied he would like to become a teacher.

With that, the people of Katou decided to assist Ruuji. (Not the suppression army, just Ruuji.)

During the time they spent in Katou, Digald had managed to track Ruuji's Gustav. Zairin, not wanting to wait extra time for reinforcements, decided to send Volcano alone.

Ruuji and the other prepared to leave, where the mayor presented Ruuji with a map. The map was a modern day atlas. Mii, having never seen something like it before, thought Da-Jiin's map was more accurate. However, Ruuji realised the true value of the map, as it looked the same as viewing the world out of the Rainbow Jerk.

As they left, Ron outlined how the purpose of the trip was to gain Katou's help. A goal they had now achieved. It was then that Zairin attacked.

He ambushed them from above. Ron was able to strike with his Metal Zi shrapnel missiles, yet it was unable to break through the Volcano's tough armour. The Murasame and Hayate both were outmatched. Ron charged in, using a desperate all out attack against the Volcano. Yet, this attack proved to deal no damage to the Bio Zoid. Indeed, it was not Ron's goal to damage the Bio Volcano. Instead, he had pinned it down. Ron initiated his self-destruct system.

Despite his Zoid exploding, Ron had escaped on the Hayate Liger. However, even he had doubts on if his attack had really felled the Bio Volcano.
