Zoids: Original is a line of model kits, released to coincide with the 30th anniversary of Zoids. The line was exclusive to Takara Tomy's Takara Tomy Mall online store.
Overview[]
Zoids Original features an entirely new back-story for the Zoids franchise. This line more closely follow the Concept Art promotional books, than any series or manga. It follows the arrival of humans on Planet Zi, and features various promotional media alongside the model line.
Release[]
The lineup as of 1st December 2013.
The lineup was first made public along with the "reboot" of the official Zoids site, on the 25th of March 2013. The first Zoid seen was the Mirage Fox, shown in silhouette only. Progressively, the site was updated to include silhouettes of subsequent Zoids. "G", the Geno Ritter, was the second Zoid to be revealed, with "C", the Command Wolf RGC, the third. The fourth Zoid was the Storm Sworder FSV.
Initially there were 5 slots under the lineup section of the site, the last two Zoids were both given the generic letter "X" and an unspecified release date. One of these became the Storm Sworder FSV. However, upon the announcement of the FSV, the fifth placeholder silhouette was removed, leaving only four Zoids in the lineup.
On the 24th of January it was announced on the TOMY site that the line would end with the release of the Storm Sworder FSV. Accordingly, the line was officially closed on the 25th of March 2014.
The final promotional video on the site was never released, instead a placeholder "coming soon" was left on the site, leaving only the Geno Ritter and Mirage Fox with promotional videos.
