Spirit of the Storm! is the twenty-third episode of Zoids: Wild. It first aired in Japan on December 08, 2018.
Overview[]
The Freedom Trio head off to a village, ravaged by drought who they find are hostile to Zoids. As they leave however, two children approach them and give them food. These kids are orphans and live with their elder sister Sawyer. Unlike the villagers, the kids (Finn and Tamara) are kind to Zoids because in secret, they had befriended a wild Rapterrix outside the village. They named the Zoid "Rain" because they met in the rain.
That night Dark Metal Forces (Drake's R.A.P subordinates from previous episodes) capture Rain for Dark Blast experiments. Rain is forced into a Dark Blast and escapes.
Rain heads into the village, and the kids try to stop it. Drake shows up as do the Freedom Trio. The kids try and talk down Rain.
In the tense engagements, Drake's curiosity is drawn to Rain. Each time the children plead to it, he noticeably reacts. The weather turns and it begins to pour, the drought is broken by they cannot force Rain out of its Dark Blast.
Eventually, Rain roars, and Drake responds by suddenly using his Dark Blast.
In one swift attack, and slices Rain in two.
Arashi confronts Drake, and using his new Ultra King Claw move, manages to cut off one of Ruin's blades. Drake retreats.
The children are left to mourn Rain. They are consoled by words Arashi had given them at the start, the break in the drought is Rain's way of repaying them for the kindness they had given the Zoid.
At the end of the episode, Arashi wonders if Drake could read Rain's emotions, which caused him to attack. The others dismiss the thought.
Post-credits shows Bastion doing a bank heist.
