The Family Business! is the twenty-seventh episode of Zoids: Wild. It first aired in Japan on January 12, 2019.

Overview

This episode is character development for Greta.

Under the guise of working with her to repay debt, this episode goes into her background, explaining that as a child her father (Walter) often left her alone for long periods while he went to work with the Spineless. One day, Greta went with him. As she did, she grew up doing her job and with the Spineless, becoming the sole operator of Spineless in the process. The story implies he died only to reveal at the end that he was alive all along.

During the episode, the Freedom group visit a town renowned for shopping, only to find it in ruins from Death Metal. While they talk, Greta talks about Freedom needing more allies, and mentions the existence of another possible member, the rider of Alpha Shadow. As they go to the next town, the Dark Metal Rapterrix trio attack. The freedom group repel them, but during their retreat they blow up a bridge so that they can't follow.

Greta uses her Wild Blast, revealing a drill under the Spineless's head, she then tunnels under the river and Arashi finishes off the Dark Metal forces.

Some hints are dropped about the Zoid Key Quade gave to Arashi. It's implied it's Demise's key.

Trivia

  • In the Japanese version, it's more strongly implied that Greta's father (Wonton) died causing Greta to take over. In the dub, some of these scenes are removed.
  • This is not the first time in Zoids that a character's father is believed to have died based on misleading dialogue, only to show up later in fine health. A similar situation happened to Oscar Hemeros in New Century.
  • This episode was the start of a new season, and saw the intro/ending songs change:
  • Intro: Sky Flight - sky peace
  • Ending: speedup - noovy
