Overview[]
This episode introduces the much-anticipated Alpha Shadow and it's pilot Apex.
The episode begins with the group waiting for Bastion to return, Arashi becomes too impatient to wait any longer and he heads off after him.
After Arashi leaves, Battalia and Analog hear a noise and follow in that direction, finding some wild Pincers injured in a rockfall. Analog tries to help the fallen one while Battalia holds off the others. As they work, the Alpha Shadow appears and attacks all the Pincers. Battalia explains to the pilot, Apex, what they were trying to do. He criticises them as being naïve, but he himself didn't finish off the Zoids, and the Pincers leave injured.
Apex tells Battalia and Analog he's bounty hunting the Liger. They let slip that they knew the Liger, and point Apex into a random direction so he wouldn't find Arashi.
Bastion returns, and shows off an obnoxious alarm clock he got while out. When Battalia and Analog ask if he saw Arashi, Bastion nods and tells them the direction Arashi went... it's the same way they had directed the Apex to.
Arashi, having arrived at town, leaves the liger outside and goes to get food. The food stalls openly welcome him, offering an all-you-can-eat scam where he would incur huge debt if he fails to eat all the free food provided to him. Apex arrives, and sees Arashi eating. He quickly gets caught up in the eating. Antics ensue, and eventually the duo leave having eaten ridiculous amounts of burgers.
Battalia and Bastion meet the pair outside town (Analog's too slow so was left behind). They try and cover up Arashi revealing he's the Liger's pilot. But after their efforts almost work, Arashi loudly calls the Liger. Apex in turn calls Alpha Shadow. Arashi then takes a nap on the Liger, tired from all his eating.
Battalia leads the Liger away, while Bastion stays to fight Apex.
Bastion quickly tries to run from the Apex, but it's too fast. However, Bastion makes up for his lack in speed by using the Tryke's power to his advantage. He actually manages to succeed, and escapes safely from Apex. However, his alarm clock from earlier goes off and lets Apex know where he was.
Arashi wakes up, and returns to confront Apex. Arashi uses his Wild Blast, and Apex returns in kind, activating the Alpha Shadow's Wild blast.
The episode ends with a short cut of Drake in one of Dark Metal's camps.
