Second Gear Showdown! is the twenty-ninth episode of Zoids: Wild. It first aired in Japan on January 26, 2019.
Overview[]
The episode begins at the fight between Arashi and Apex.
Both use their Wild Blasts, and as Arashi attacks with King Claw, the Alpha Shadow responds with speed, it easily dodges the attack and out manoeuvres the Liger. Arashi, however, has trained against speed, and uses his Ultra King Claw. This takes Apex off-guard, but he still manages to dodge.
Arashi is amazed by Apex's skill, and genuinely happy about their fight. Abruptly, Apex disengages and leaves. It turns out, that in the past, Apex had met Quade. Arashi's actions had reminded Apex of Quade.
Elsewhere, Drake heads to their location at high speed. Eventually, the others make camp along with and at daybreak Drake arrives (just after Apex leaves). Drake uses surprise to disable all but the Liger. The ground is unstable and as Arashi and Drake fight, Arashi is left at a disadvantage. Apex returns and helps fight Drake. At this point Drake mentions that Quade is dead. This causes Apex to activate his "Second Gear" and does another Wild Blast technique. The pack on Alpha Shadow's back fires beams in all directions, and wins the fight.
Drake, injured, tries to get back on Ruin, but it refuses. Its own force of will disengages the Dark Blast and the Zoid shuts down. The others escape.
At the end of the episode, Arashi gives Apex a Freedom badge.
Post-credits is a short bit with Numb-Lock.
