Assault! Drake of the Dawn is the 42nd episode of Zoids: Wild. It first aired in Japan on the 4th of May 2019.

OverviewEdit

This episode focuses on the backstory of Drake.

It is shown that Gallagher's Gilraptor is still damaged from the previous fight against Team Freedom and Team Supreme. Drake's Gilraptor, while also injured from their previous fights, is not as bad.

In flashback, it's revealed that Drake's parents willingly went to Death Metal with two Gilraptors. The red one Drake currently uses, and the white one seen in flashback.

However, Drakes parents realise that joining Death Metal is a mistake, and urge Drake to escape. He takes the two Zoids, but fails to escape. Instead finding himself face-to-face with Gallagher's forces, and his purple commander Gilraptor. Drakes parents were both slain offscreen.

Gallagher gives Drake a choice, sacrifice a Gilraptor, or be slain. Drake almost chooses the red Gilraptor, but hesitates. In that pause, Gallagher tells him he's run out of time and goes to kill Drake. However, the white Gilraptor saves Drake, and it is slain instead.

Back in the present, Gallagher is looking to off his now useless Gilraptor, giving the order to Drake. But intelligence comes in about the resistance, and Drake uses the chance to take both Gilraptors and attack the resistance. Gallagher gives Drake the Death Metal Key for the Gilraptor commander.

Drake attacks the resistance, and comes across Team Freedom receiving repairs. Arashi is the only one able to fight, and takes on both Gilraptors. But he's reluctant, as he can clearly see the damage done to the Zoids. He pleads with Drake not to fight, saying that Drake really loves Zoids. But Drake ignores him and activates the Death Blast of both Gilraptors, knowing full well that the commander Gilraptor cannot handle the stress of the Death Blast. Arashi is forced to use his Wild Blast in response. Salt is the next repaired, and he comes to Arashi's aid.

But the commander Gilraptor ignores them and slowly walks towards the resistance hanger. Arashi and Salt slow it down, but can't stop it. After everyone escapes, the Zoid reaches the interior, where its injuries cause sparks to meet oil drums that explode, destroying the Gilraptor and the base.

Drake retreats with his Gilraptor, and reports the successful destruction of the base to Gallagher. Gallagher is totally unfazed by the loss of the commander Gilraptor, while Drake still has the Gilraptor's oil fresh on his glove.

A post-credit scene shows a boy with a picture of him and Bacon.
