TBA is the twenty-first episode of the Zoids: Wild ZERO anime series, based on TOMY's Zoids franchise. It first aired in Japan on March 06, 2020 on TV Tokyo.

Overview[]

The episode starts with Chris Giller watching over Fiona from the Empire. She asks him to tell her stories about the outside world as has spent most of her time inside the capital.

With the main cast, they continue their search for Regeneration Cubes. The pendant doesn't react, but they notice an in-tact skyscraper. Thinking it could be a time vortex they head towards it. The base of the building has a strong shutter that's closed, but it opens for them as they approach.

Inside they find a pristine high-rise complex. A shopping mall below with offices and apartments above. As the team look around they marvel at some of the long-lost technology seen inside (like CDs). At this point, Jo begins to have flashbacks. Memories from the people that lived there. She doesn't tell the others what she sees.

Buzz goes further in to find treasure. As they explore the offices phones begin to ring. There's nobody on the other end of the line. Shortly after a fax machine sends through a family photo. Without much warning, all the other phones go off. This creeps out the main cast and they quickly decide to leave, abandoning the riches that awaited them.

But they find they can't go down the lift. It instead takes them to the top floor where they find themselves at an apartment. The door to the apartment unlocks as they approach. The group carefully enter and find their custodian: an AI doll called "Alice".

The doll showed recordings of the past.

Alice belonged to a girl called Maria, who looked like Jo Aysel. The family had abandoned the building during the Zoid Crisis but the doll was forced to be left behind. Maria had cared deeply for the doll and looked after it. The doll's last words to Maria was that it would wait for her return.

Jo immediately takes to the doll and pretends to be Maria, telling the doll they had been away for a long time.

However the reunion is short-lived. Jamminga begin to appear and the party is forced to flee. Buzz makes it to the lift, but can't hold it open and is separated. Leo takes Sally with his multi-tool to descend, while Jo is left alone. She summons her Raptoria, but is left to fend for herself in the time it takes for it to get there. Essentially unarmed, Sally is briefly hit and drops Alice, where a Jamminga steps on it.

Jo is overcome with rage and as her Raptoria shows up, she decimates the Jamminga nearby. She listens to Alice's last broken words before heading down.

The party regroup at the bottom and leave.

It turns out there was no Regeneration Cube. The building had survived all this time by simply keeping the blast door closed. Alice opening the doors is what ultimately allowed the Jamminga in.

Trivia[]

  • Since this was not a time vortex, the headphones Sally used degraded due to old age. This probably means the "treasure" Buzz had was real. However, it's not explained why Jo can see memories of the past in the absence of a vortex.
  • The song Sally listens to is the first ending theme. The song is sung by Sally's Voice Actor.
  • The maid seen with Fiona at the start of this episode was revealed on the Zoids Twitter feed before this episode. Her name is "Gene Elisi Linette", and is to be voice acted by the same person that did "Fiona" Elisi Linette in the Japanese version of Chaotic Century.
