He opens up a channel to the Empire and Republic to arrange a deal: the cube for official recognition of his status.
Leo and the others confirm that he does indeed have the final cube.
Shigaru threatens the combined forces: if they don't listen he'll just trade with Electora.
The Empire launches an assault on Shigaru's last base, while the Republic monitor the Zero Grizis metal cocoon. Hidden in a frozen wasteland they send in the Gatling Fox using its stealth. Baan finds a well guarded container surrounded by Kill Scythe.
He is discovered and the forces launch an attach to claim the base.
But it's a trap. Shigaru had rigged the base with explosives and buries it in an avalanche. His own Kill Scythe are taken down along with a large chunk of the attacking forces. Spiegel and a a few other Kill Scythe transport the true cube away to safety.
In the lull, the Empire reconsiders their approach. Given the fate of the world is in the balance, they intend to make a trade with Shigaru.
Shigaru, in his small outpost consoles with Spiegel. The deal with Electora was a complete bluff, he knows she would not listen to a trade. When asked what their goals were, Shigaru is reminded of the old days on Zi, the true power the Empire had. Spiegel is not so nuanced, he's merely a soldier doing what he can.
The trade begins to take place. The Empire comes with a seemingly genuine offer tabled. Melville is there to lend it weight.
It looks to go well, but Shigaru rejects the offer. He wants far more than he let on. He wants complete rule.
At this point, Spiegel gives up on the "True Empire". The world is not worth Shigaru's ambition.
But before any party can seize the cube, a fog begins to roll in.
Shigaru flees with his gold Kill Scythe, taking the cube with him. Spiegel is forced to fight the Zero Phantoth with the combined forces.
Spiegel reveals that Shigaru has rigged his Zoid with explosives.
They take down the Zero Phantoth, but Shigaru is pushed too far and looks to detonate the bomb.
At that moment, Melville uses her Sniptera to intercept Shigaru's Kill Scythe. Preventing the cube being damaged, and capturing Shigaru in the process.
But all is in vain. The cube interacts with the environment causing a volcano to appear under it. The cube falls into lava and becomes unreachable.
The fog subsides, but as communications are restored word comes in from Dias. They had also seen the fog, and now the Zero Grizis is missing.
