Released on the 11th of August, 2005, Zoids Tactics is a strategy RPG in which the player controls an army of Zoids and plays through the plot line. It is a PlayStation 2 port of Zoids Tactics for the i-mode, a Japanese mobile phone browser, which was released in May 2005.

While the game offers a large selection of Zoids it is not like the VS. and Saga game, in which Zoids are regularly bought. Tactics is more story oriented than the others, and while playing through the Mission Mode you'll gain a lot of Zoids and data. Each level has an objective, and a primary target that must be defeated. There are additional 'secret' Zoids that are skulking around in the battle, which you can optionally defeat but will gain valuable Zoid data from if you do.

In spite of this game being wholly in Japanese it is fairly easy to figure out just by clicking around the menus. The story line is a loose collaboration of Zoids Chaotic Century and the Battle Story, including a lot of characters that are left to the background in other medias.
